How "Have a Nice Day" By Billy Crystal & Quinton Peeples Can Change Your Life if You Let It

Updated: Sep 21, 2019

"Have a Nice Day" by Billy Crystal and Quinton Peeples appeared in the list of Audible Originals available in my monthly subscription. My interest was immediately peaked because I am a fan of both Billy Crystal's and Kevin Kline. In addition, upon reading the description of the play, I realized that this would speak to my current mission in life, which is to have more time with those I love.

I don't want to spoil the play, the plot or the result in any way. Instead, I'll provide the following three pieces of advice that I took from the play, that I hope we all take from the play. Here is a link to the play, should you want to listen to it as well. It is truly life changing if you take the lessons to heart.

Lesson 1: Nothing is more important than time with our loved ones

Your family, your spouse, your children. If the world were to come to an end tomorrow, who would you want to spend your time with? Your answer is the people you should be focused on day in and day out. Those are the souls who deserve your time, love and attention

Lesson 2: Even the most "ordinary" moments are extraordinary, do not rush through the day

Every day, you wake up, brush your teeth, eat breakfast, kiss those you love goodbye and head to work or get moving on things at home. What if you savored each of those things a little bit more though. Notice the fresh mint as you brush, the feeling of the warm coffee as it coats your throat and the taste of the butter melting through the nooks and crannies of your waffle or toast. When you kiss your loved ones before the day begins, let the kiss linger an extra moment and be grateful for their life and for the time you share together.

Lesson 3: There is only now!

So for those of you who are Rent fans, you may already be singing the familiar song, "No Day But Today" in your head. I know I am. Don't put off telling your partner, family and/or children you love them and don't say "I'll work today and spend time with them tomorrow." Make time now and every day to express how much care for them and tell them just how much they mean to you.

Spread joy, love faithfully and don't take a moment for granted.
